Sundstrom also rides in the Swedish Premier League |
Ipswich Witches rider Linus Sundstrom has set his sights on featuring in the Elite League full-time. The Swede shares his British riding duties between the top-flight Witches and Premier League Rye Raiders. Sundstrom, 19, did his chances of a permanent switch no harm on Thursday, top scoring for Ipswich in their 45-47 defeat to Coventry. He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I want to progress and maybe the right move is to the Elite League full-time." He added: "The biggest difference between the leagues is the gates. | Tonight was better but the smallest things can be crucial in speedway Linus Sundstrom, Ipswich Witches |
"I missed some gates but I still did some passes from behind and I've shown I have both starts and the speed." Sundstrom's strong performance from the reserve position failed to cover up a poor showing from the Suffolk side. The defeat at home to Coventry, who are bottom of the table, leaves Ipswich just one place above the Bees and with just one win in their last six meetings. "Tonight was better but the smallest things can be crucial in speedway," said Sundstrom. "I just try to do as good a job as I can for them." Sundstrom will be unavailable for Ipswich's next meeting, away to Peterborough on Monday, due to his commitments with Rye.
