The 2008 season was the first in the Championships for Linfoot
Knaresborough's Dan Linfoot has finished in fifth place in the European Superstock 600 Championships.
He finished 11th in the final round in Portugal to secure his place in the standings despite crashing on the penultimate lap.
Linfoot told BBC Radio York that this season had been the best of his career.
"The results have been promising so it's definitely been my best season so far and hopefully I can build on this and take it a step further," he said.
However Linfoot admits he was disappointed not be able to finish higher in the standings.
"If someone had said to me going in to the season 'if you had to finish fifth in the championship, would you be happy?' I'd have said absolutely not.
We just have to take this fifth place on the chin and learn from it to improve the next time we go out there

"I'm a racer and like everybody else I want to go out there to win and to win is the aim. When you come fifth it is disappointing, but I know within myself that every time I've stepped out on that motorbike I've ridden the best I could at 100% and just now and again that hasn't been good enough.
"But we know you can't turn back the clock now and whatever has been done has been done. We just have to take this fifth place on the chin and learn from it to improve the next time we go out there."
The team that Linfoot has ridden for this season, Stonebaker Racing, folded at the end of the season but the 20-year-old has already secured a ride for 2009.
"I've closed a deal down with a team for me to compete in the British Supersport Championship in England next season.
"That will be alongside the British Superbike series. It's just going to be down for me to deliver the results next season."
