HM Plant Honda's Cal Crutchlow is almost back to full fitness ahead of Monday's fourth round of the British Superbike Championship at Donington.

Crutchlow ruptured ankle ligaments in a crash at Oulton Park, but returned less than a week later to claim a win in the last round at Brands Hatch.

He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "My ankle's not too bad. It's a but sore but those two weeks have been crucial.

"It's a good circuit for me and I can't wait to race here on Monday."

Crutchlow is second in the standings, 44 points behind leader Shane Byrne, while team-mate Leon Haslam goes into the Bank Holiday meeting at his home circuit in sixth place, a further 40 points behind Crutchlow. Kirkby-on Bain's Steve Plater misses the round as he is competing in the Isle of Man TT races.

The harder you try the slower you go - it's all about letting it flow at Donington

Superstock racer Lee Jackson

Peter Hickman from Alford returns to Superstock action having rebuilt his Yamaha following a huge crash with Christian Elkin at Brands Hatch.

Hickman said: "I had a brake failure going down the back straight towards Hawthorn, which is about 170mph, and couldn't avoid Christian. Luckily we both walked away.

"It was pretty well broken after Brands but we're here and looking forward to the weekend. I've always gone well here, I think the bike's capable of winning races and I am as well."

Meanwhile Lincoln's Lee Jackson is confident that his NCT Yamaha team have solved their early season problems, and feels his riding style will suit the circuit.

"The harder you try the slower you go - it's all about letting it flow at Donington."

Ben Wilson will be in action in three races at Donington. The Boston rider will compete in Superstock, and has a double-header in the R1 cup.
