Louth-based HM Plant Honda's Cal Crutchlow may miss round three of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch because of injury.

Crutchlow, who was joint top of the standings going into Sunday's second round at Oulton Park, crashed in race two and dislocated his ankle.

He also ran off the track while leading race one, re-joining to finish sixth.

Ducati's Shane Byrne won both races to take a 39-point championship lead with his team-mate Leon Camier up in second.

Crutchlow has now been pushed down to third in the standings.

Leon Haslam, who was on the second HM Plant Honda also had an eventful meeting at the Cheshire circuit.

He claimed second place in the opening race but was excluded from race two for careless riding after colliding with Tom Sykes at the chicane, ending the Suzuki rider's race.

Kirkby-on-Bain's Steve Plater, on the AIM Yamaha, picked up his first points of the season with 12th place in race two.

He had retired from the opening race after choosing the wrong tyres for the damp conditions.

"I was sliding around quite a bit," admitted Plater. "I had a couple of moments and decided it wasn't worth carrying on and perhaps crashing."
