Despite taking three wins at the North West 200 on Saturday, Steve Plater admits he is still a novice when it come to the Isle of Man TT.

Plater, from Kirkby-on-Bain, is making his second visit to the world-famous road race circuit this year.

"The North West 200 was fantastic," he told BBC Radio Lincolnshire. "But as far as the TT is concerned I'm going back to school.

"Last year was my first time here and I've still got an awful lot to learn."

Plater's performance at the TT in 2007 was the best ever by a debutant, with 10th place in the senior event and the fastest ever lap by a newcomer.

"But I'm not really concerned with results, as long as I keep improving my lap times.

"It's very important to relax and flow with the circuit, and let the times come to you.

"There's so much to learn here. It's important for me to ride as many machines as possible and do the mileage and keep learning with the long-term goal of winning in the future."

Plater will be racing in the senior and junior TT, along with the Superbike, Supersport and Superstock races, as will fellow Lincolnshire riders Guy Martin, Gary Johnson and Dave Hewson.

"It's just a fabulous place to race around," admitted Plater, "Even though there are other guys out on the circuit you're pretty much racing against the clock.

"There's nowhere else in the world like it."

The first practice session takes place at 1820 BST on Saturday, 24 May, with the first of the races at 1200 BST on Saturday, 31 May.
