Our series of photos aimed at showing a different side of Formula 1 ends for the season with a beautiful shot of Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel on his way to winning Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The photographs are taken by Darren Heath, who over the last 20 years has carved a reputation as one of the best photographers working within the sport. This is Darren's story behind his latest image: "Formula 1's newest track, Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit has raised the bar to breathtaking levels . "The organisers have spared no expense in providing F1 with a circuit so state of the art that it must be terrifying for those building the new venues in South Korea and India that are set to make their debuts in 2010 and 2011. "And just imagine how the organisers of the Bahrain track felt when gazing in awe at their near neighbours' new wonder-drome of a place - and they host the next race! "Working trackside, especially around and under the Yas Hotel's futuristic form, makes one feel like an extra in the latest Star Trek film, to the point that you seriously wouldn't be surprised to see a low-flying spacecraft buzz overhead. "During the race, the constantly changing colour of the lights, scale of the building and speed of the cars made for a real photographic challenge. "With different lighting patterns suiting different cars it was a case of waiting and hoping that Vettel's Red Bull would blast through the stunning set with a complimentary hue high above. "Two thirds of the way through the race everything came together resulting in my signature shot of the weekend and providing a fitting Big Picture finale." Camera: Canon EOS1DS Mark 3. Lens: 20mm.
