This year BBC Sport is bringing you a series of photographs aimed at conveying Formula One in its full glory. The photographs are taken by Darren Heath, who over the last 20 years has carved a reputation as one of the best photographers in F1. The second image in our series is of double world champion Fernando Alonso at the wheel of his Renault in testing at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya last week. It beautifully evokes the speed and drama of a Grand Prix car on the limit. This is Darren's story behind the image: "Alonso is seen here hammering down the main straight of the Montmelo Grand Prix track near Barcelona while testing his Renault R29 in preparation for the start of the season. "The speed and colours of the car, perfectly complimented by the oranges and reds of the empty grandstand - and all lit in a warm hue by the setting sun - work together fantastically together to create a shot that I hope shows the sometimes lonely nature of a pre-season test. "By the end of this week, the cars and drivers will be winging their way to Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia, where the grandstands will be packed and hundreds of millions will be watching worldwide, all keen to see the results of all those lonely laps."
