Pedersen has won the Speedway World Cup with Denmark twice |
Eastbourne Eagles team manager Trevor Geer says their number one rider Bjarne Pedersen could make the difference in their Elite League campaign. The 32-year-old Dane joins the Sussex side on loan after nine seasons with Poole Pirates. Geer told BBC Sussex: "People might say, 'is Bjarne really going to give 100% for Eastbourne?' But he sees it as a new challenge. "We need a number one that wants to be at Eastbourne. We have that in Bjarne." Geer added: "He's been practicing more than anybody this year. He's certainly up for it." The Eagles begin their Elite League campaign at home to Wolverhampton on Saturday, and Geer hopes to start with a victory. "The league is looking the best it has done for years," he continued. "We've certainly got to start strong. All the boys will be fired up."
