Lyon led the Stars to a Premier League treble last season |
King's Lynn Stars may have swept to a 55-35 victory over Scunthorpe on Wednesday but boss Rob Lyon was not impressed with his side's performance. The win handed three points to the Stars and puts them fourth in the Premier League. But Lyon told BBC Radio Norfolk: "It's pretty obvious we're not riding to our full potential at the minute. "We had a better second-half of the meeting once we had a chat and discussed a few things." Darren Mallett continued his good form, top scoring for the hosts with 14. "He's riding as well as he's (ever) ridden," said Lyon. | It was a bit touch and go whether I was going to ride King's Lynn rider Darren Mallett on suffering from tonsillitis |
"It'll be nice to see him continue that and carry the form into away meetings. "I think he will, he's riding with confidence." The 24-year-old's total was his highest yet for King's Lynn, which he achieved despite suffering from tonsillitis. "It was a bit touch and go whether I was going to ride," Mallett said. "But I know I can score points around the Norfolk Arena and I've wondered whether I can do it in away meetings." Lynn have four meetings in hand on the top of the table sides, but are set to face a flurry of five fixtures in seven days, starting with Newport at home on 14 July.
