Cummins claimed two podium finishes at the 2009 TT races |
Isle of Man rider Conor Cummins was both encouraged and frustrated by his efforts in the BSB Superstock 1000 Championship at Oulton Park on Monday. The 23-year-old was in contention for a podium finish in the third round of the championship when he slid off. "I had just set the second fastest lap and was feeling good, so I'm very disappointed," said Cummins. The race was won by Jon Kirkham with Steve Plater second and Tristan Palmer completing the podium. "As I came through Knickerbrook, the front forks bottomed out and it simply tucked the front end and down I went," said Cummins. "Having just set the second fastest lap maybe I was just finding new limits and I'm sorry for all the team as, again, we had a great bike and it was a match for anything else out there. "The bike needs a bit of work as it cart-wheeled through the gravel trap but, apart from my pride, I'm ok and I'm still sixth in the Championship so I'll be looking to get back at the front next time out at Cadwell." Meanwhile, 16-year-old Dave Pearce gave his best performance of the season to qualify for the National Superstock 600 race.
