 Eugene Laverty made a major move in the battle for the Supersport title |
Eugene Laverty moved to within two points of World Supersport pacesetter Cal Crutchlow after finishing second in Sunday's race at Imola. Crutchlow was forced to retire in Italy and Toomebridge rider Laverty came in behind winner Kenan Sofoglu to secure 20 championship points. Ballyclare's Jonathan Rea had seventh and sixth place finishes in the Superbike class. Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio were the race winners. Rea, who has signed a contract extension with the Ten Kate Honda team, remains fourth in the standings.
