Cheetahs comeback meet postponed

A four-team tournament between Oxford Cheetahs, Reading, Swindon and Cradley scheduled for 30 July has been postponed due to riders' commitments.

Rider withdrawals left the clubs unable to field line-ups with genuine links to the teams they were to turn out for.

"Riders had to have relevance to the teams they were to represent," said event organiser and Swindon co-owner Gary Patchett.

"Clearly there were not replacements available who maintained the links."

He added: "It is our intention to restage this meeting at a later date in the season, to be announced shortly, when the international fixture list is less congested."

The meeting was to have been a one-off comeback for the Oxford team, who have been out of league action for two years.
