Despite the crash Priaulx still set the fastest lap in race one |
Guernsey's Andy Priaulx suffered a disappointing weekend in the World Touring Car Championship as he left the Czech Republic with just one point. On the first corner of race one Priaulx and three other drivers were the victims of an accident. Back on the track after repairs he set the fastest lap but had to start race two in Brno from 19th on the grid. "I'm really disappointed with the outcome of this weekend, as I think I had the fastest car," he said. "Unfortunately I was involved in the first-corner accident in race one. My team did a sensational job in getting my car repaired before the end of the race," said Priaulx. "In race two I was running behind Joerg Mueller, obviously we had a good fight. But it was difficult to get past. It's a shame, as again we lost some precious points," he added. The results at the halfway stage in the championship see Priaulx drop two places to sixth, 30 points behind leader Yvan Muller.
