Harvey comes home seventh in the first race in Barcelona |
Lincolnshire racing driver Jack Harvey has made an impressive start to his career in Formula BMW after moving up from karting this year. On his debut in the series the 16-year-old from Bassingham came home seventh and 19th over the weekend in Spain. Harvey told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I was surprised because the official testing didn't go that well. "When you go from karting into cars it is so apparent the difference a year makes - it's massive." At the end of the 2008 season Harvey was given the opportunity to test a Formula BMW car and after three years at top-level karting he was offered the chance to make the move permanently. The Lincoln Minster School pupil, who is supported by the Racing Steps Foundation (RSF), is on the same bill as Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.
