Russell Downing, riding for the Pinarello team, has won the 53rd Lincoln Cycle Grand Prix. Russell beat his brother Dean, who was riding for the Rapha team, by just three seconds to secure a second title. The winner told BBC Radio Lincolnshire:
"I was living with Dean up until last week so I probably wouldn't have got fed last week. "But thankfully this week I am back home. We're having a barbeque so I will see what he sticks in my drink". The Grand Prix consists of eleven eight-mile laps around Lincoln and through Burton village - and race organiser Ian Emmerson feels the race went well. "Everybody pulled together and made it work properly," he said. "Looking farward to 2012, events like the Lincoln Grand Prix will play a crucial role in preparation for it".
