Guernsey's World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx says stewards failed to properly punish Gabriele Tarquini after a crash between the two on Sunday. The two drivers, currently second and third in this year's championship came together when Priaulx was forced out of race one. "It's clear that he intentionally turned me around and yet he took a 30 second penalty for race one," he said. Tarquini also received a suspended grid penalty for the incident in Germany. | I think if I was in the situation where I had turned Tarquini around I think I'd be paying a higher price |
"He got away with it pretty light," added Priaulx on BBC Guernsey. "I know he's got a suspended sentence for the next two races but I'm sure if we made contact again in the next two races he'd talk his way out of it. "I'm just really distraught at the moment with the way that the stewards are looking at these situations. "I think if I was in the situation where I had turned Tarquini around I think I'd be paying a higher price," he added. The shunt forced Priaulx to start from 26th place on the grid for race two. Tarquni is currently 11 points ahead of Priaulx. Yvan Muller still leads the way, two points ahead of the Italian.
