Priaulx wants a level playing field for all drivers |
Three-times World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx is urging a change to the rules of the championship to ensure the series remains competitive. The BMW driver, 33, only has a slim chance of retaining his title because of the dominance by the diesel-powered SEAT Leons this season. The Guernseyman told BBC London 94.9: "I want to be winning in the WTCC. "And if the rules are not allowing me to, it's of no interest to me or BMW to carry on." Priaulx heads to Brands Hatch for the British round of the series on 26 and 27 July, lying fourth in the standings. | I think everyone should have a fair chance of winning and it should come down to the best sportsman at the end of the year | "In the last four years it's always gone down to the last race," Priaulx added. "This year I'd say it's less interesting. If it carries on like this SEAT will win it in the next two rounds and that's not good for anybody, SEAT are on another planet right now. "I think everyone should have a fair chance of winning and it should come down to the best sportsman at the end of the year. "BMW are not going to bring in a diesel engine and I also think that would be a problem for Chevrolet. If something doesn't happen I'll be disappointed." Priaulx, who was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours, will also be performing some demonstration laps in a BMW Formula One car at Brands Hatch this weekend.
