| Swing thing at Lytham Leonard during practice at The Open By BBC Sport Online's Kitrina Douglas at The Open There used to be a saying in golf that whatever swing you arrive with the week of The Open - play with it - don't change it. It appears that the same doesn't hold true for the modern professional. They now arrive on the practice ground an hour before teeing off, with a golf tutor and hanker to make a few last-minute changes. We are used to seeing Butch Harmon work with Tiger Woods. But for nearly 40 minutes he attended to Mark Calcavecchia before moving on to former Open champion Justin Leonard who was, in Butch's words, "too stretched". It was a little like watching a doctor do his ward rounds! David Leadbetter was also doing his ward rounds, though his presence with Justin Rose and Ernie Els appeared to be more for psychological back-up than swing tinkering. It was a similar story with Padraig Harrington. |
