Croft barge earns reprimand
Robert Croft
Croft made 11 in England's run chase
Robert Croft is hoping to shake off the severe reprimand he received for barging as England prepare for the final one-day international on Tuesday.

The off-spinner was spoken to by the match referee after colliding with Chaminda Vaas during England's 66-run defeat in the second one-dayer on Sunday.

Croft was attempting a quick single towards the end of England's innings at the Premadasa Stadium and made contact with Vaas.

The left-armer had stood his ground after completing his follow through.

It was dealt with in a civil manner
Robert Croft

Croft himself said: "He was in my line and I was in his; I was not sure who had to move out of the way and unfortunately we collided.

"I have played against Chaminda a number of times in the past and we are reasonably good friends... it was dealt with in a civil manner."

Match referee Hanumant Singh called a disciplinary meeting on Monday morning after his attention was drawn to the incident by television replays.

Rash of warnings

But after considering the evidence of both players he gave them both a reprieve by issuing a warning.

Singh had already fined Muttiah Muralitharan 65% of his match fee and given him a suspended three-match ban for displaying dissent during the opening match of the series at Dambulla last Friday.

Four Sri Lankan players - Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Russell Arnold - were fined 25% of their match fees for over-zealous appealing in the first Test and Graeme Hick was handed a suspended ban for dissent.
