Jersey's young athletes won an unprecedented four gold medals on day two of the Jeux des Iles in the Azores. The first two came from swimmer Emily Bashforth, who triumphed in both the 800m and 200m freestyle. Ella Dais then took gold in the 400m individual medley, before Kathryn Rothwell came first in the discus over at the athletics stadium. Jersey has a 40-strong team at the the Jeux des Iles, an event for youngsters from islands around the world. Alongside the four gold medals, Jersey's team also picked three silver and two bronze medals. Jersey's 4x100m freestyle team took silver in the pool, while Maria Kocat won bronze in the 200m freestyle. The final three medals came in athletics, with Shadine Duqemin winning silver in the discus, while in the 1500m Danielle Leerson took silver in the girls race and Elliot Dorey won bronze in the boys.
