Blackburn winger Haworth heading for York loan move
York City have taken Blackburn winger Andy Howarth on pre-season trial with a view to a long-term loan signing.
City manager Martin Foyle sees Howarth (21) as the likely replacement for departed right-winger Adam Smith.
"Andy's going to do all the pre-season with us with a view to a loan period," Foyle told BBC Radio York.
"He had a good loan period with Rochdale towards the end of the season. He shows his excitement and a little bit of pace, and he's a good size."
Not all of Foyle's transfer targets have come off, having lost out on right-back Ben Purkiss to Oxford United. But he is satisfied with his team building progress so far.
"There's no panic," he said. "We've got 17 players anyway so we're not far off.
Andy Haworth will be more than capable at this level but it's down to him

"We just need one or two attacking players to add that final bit to the jigsaw.
"Andy will be more than capable at this level but it's down to him. "I spoke last week to Neil McDonald, the Blackburn assistant manager. I can take Andy, it's all confirmed and it's exciting for us.
"Let's hope he settles in here and becomes a big part."
