Smith made 18 starts and 15 substitute appearances for York last season

Mansfield Town have signed York City forward Adam Smith on a one-year deal.

The versatile 25-year-old has rejected a new offer from the Minstermen and his Field Mill deal starts on 1 July.

Smith said: "This club is going the right way. There is clear ambition here and the manager is determined to put the club back in the Football League."

Stags boss David Holdsworth added: "I am delighted. Adam can play on either wing and up front and brings pace and dynamism to our forward line."

The former Chesterfield player initially moved to Bootham Crescent on loan in 2008, before making the move permanent in 2009.
