York manager Martin Foyle signs up play-off starters
More than 9,000 York City fans saw the 3-1 play-off defeat by Oxford
York manager Martin Foyle has signed up eight of the players who started their Blue Square Premier play-off final defeat at Wembley against Oxford.
They are James Meredith, Dave McGurk, Alex Lawless, Neil Barrett, Michael Rankine, Richard Brodie, goalkeeper Michael Ingham and Chris Carruthers.
Contracts have been offered to the other three - Ben Purkiss, Levi Mackin and Luke Graham.
Daniel Parslow, Michael Gash and Andy McWilliams have also been re-signed.
Foyle is talking to Djoumin Sangare, Adam Smith and goalkeeping coach Simon Miotto.
Two second-year scholars, Dean Lisles and Jamie Hopcutt, have been offered short-term deals.
Seven first-team squad members have been released. They are Richard Pacquette, Jamie Clarke, Kevin Gall, Alan O'Hare, Simon Russell, Craig Nelthorpe and goalkeeper Josh Mimms.
Loan signings Paul Harsley (Chesterfield) and Courtney Pitt (Cambridge) will return to their parent clubs.
Six youth team players have also been released. They are Ryan Qualter, Kingsley Wetherald, Dominic Brown, Michael Duckworth, Adam Scorfield and Nick Thompson.
