FRIENDS PROVIDENT t20, Headingley: Yorkshire 213-7 (20 ovs) beat Worcestershire 109 (16.5 ovs) by 104 runs Match scorecard
Lyth is Yorkshire's leading run scorer in first-class cricket this summer
Yorkshire racked up their biggest Twenty20 score to set up a 104-run thrashing of Worcestershire.
Adam Lyth (59) and Herschelle Gibbs (40) got Yorkshire off to a flier at Headingley with a second-wicket stand of 108 off only 44 balls.
Jonathan Bairstow finished things off with a rapid 49 not out as the hosts compiled 213-7, beating the 211-6 made against Leicestershire in 2004.
Worcestershire were never in the hunt as they were bowled out for only 109.
The visitors were up against it in their run chase from the moment Steven Patterson removed both Phil Jacques and Moeen Ali in his first over to leave them reeling on 9-2.
And wickets continued to fall at regular intervals to make the result a formality, Rich Pyrah claiming 3-12 and Azeem Rafiq 3-23.
Nevertheless, it was a memorable evening for Lyth, who was only included in the side because of a shoulder injury to Jacques Rudolph.
Lyth came into the match - only his second in Twenty20 cricket this summer - with a highest score of 10 in this form of the game, but he soon passed that, hitting two sixes and 10 fours in a thrilling 24-ball innings.
Then, when Worcestershire batted, Lyth pulled off a stunning full-length diving catch on the mid-wicket boundary off Tino Best to remove Sanath Jayasuriya.
