Simon Rusk has claimed a regular place in York's midfield this season
York City manager Colin Walker was left frustrated by his side's failure to put away chances following their 0-0 draw with Cambridge.
The stalemate was York's eighth in their last 13 games.
"It's just that last pass, that last cross, that last finish that we're just lacking at the moment," Walker told BBC Radio York.
On Tuesday York travel to a Wrexham side buoyed by a win at Forest Green under new boss Dean Saunders.
York midfielder Simon Rusk said: "We need to have a little bit more quality in the final third.
"I still think there's a lot of positives to take [from the Cambridge game], I don't think we're far away from being a good team in this division."
We've beaten them once this season so why can't we do it down there?

Walker was delighted with his goalkeeper Michael Ingham and defence, which kept a clean sheet for the first time in four games.
York will still be without striker Onome Sodje for the trip to Wrexham because of a hamstring injury, and midfielder Steven Hogg is still far from match fit after injury.
Walker hinted at bringing in a player on loan if his misfiring forwards fail to improve.
"There are too many draws, maybe we need to look at something different in the striking department," he added.
As for Wrexham, Rusk added: "They'll have a big crowd there but we've beaten them once this season so why can't we do it down there?"
