Aspin urges Harrogate to improve

Harrogate Town manager Neil Aspin was disappointed with both the display and the result after Saturday's 2-2 home draw with mid-table Alfreton.

Aspin told BBC Radio York: "We're struggling with our form."

Paul Clayton scored for Alfreton on 58 and 87 minutes, while in between Town had to rely on a Leo Fortune-West own goal and a Darren Dunning penalty.

"Once you've got your noses in front with six or seven minutes to go, you've got to see out the game," Aspin added.

Town are still third in Blue Square North, three points behind new leaders Tamworth, but Aspin is concerned with how to end a six-match winless run.

The players we have have got to do better

Aspin added: "It's going to take a bit of time, we played well earlier in the season, but we've had four or five games where we haven't played so well.

"We've got to pass the ball better. At times when we did pass it we looked back to ourselves, but we're not doing it over a long period.

"I can't be satisfied with that, we've got to keep striving to be better."

Aspin believes that Town's last win, a 4-0 drubbing of King's Lynn, is evidence that his current squad can play to the standard he requires.

"If football was an exact science you'd [always] play like you did against King's Lynn - that's why football is a great game, you can't predict it."

On the subject of bringing players in, Aspin added: "You're always looking to strengthen but everything's dictated by finance, and the players we have have got to do better."

Town will go to Solihull Moors on Saturday without striker James Dean, who is suspended.
