| Saturday, 1 February, 2003, 10:25 GMT Wigan bag Bullard Second Division title favourites Wigan Athletic have signed Peterborough midfielder Jimmy Bullard to bolster their promotion push. The Latics have paid 275,000 for the 24-year-old, who has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the JJB Stadium. Bullard had also interested Preston North End, but his move to Wigan has ended manager Paul Jewell's six-month chase for the player, who joined Peterborough from West Ham in May 2001. "He's someone I've been after for a long time and we're delighted to get him at what we think is an excellent price," said Jewell. "He's a good footballer with good energy and will provide us with another option in midfield. "We've got strong competition for those places, but I think Jimmy will give us something different in there," Jewell told his club's website. Ged Brannan has left Wigan to join Dunfermline Athletic. |
