| Tuesday, 18 February, 2003, 18:32 GMT Robins joins Tranmere Rotherham striker Mark Robins has agreed to join Tranmere Rovers at the second time of asking. Robins had initially turned down the chance of a loan move to Prenton Park. But after a temporary switch to Barnsley fell through, the 33-year-old former Manchester United marksman will join Tranmere for an initial month in search of regular first-team football. "I have agreed to let him go because we have five strikers on our books at the moment. It will do him good," Millers boss Ronnie Moore told the club's website. "He could well stay longer than a month, although if that happens we will be able to call him back if the need arises." Robins has scored 46 goals for Rotherham since joining the club from Walsall in June, 2000, but has started just one league game this season. Robins had expected to make a loan move to Oakwell in search of first-team football. But relegation-threatened Barnsley insisted a deal was not likely as they are still under a transfer embargo from the Nationwide League. |
