The Leyton Orient player had been in protracted negotiations with the club regarding a deal. But Swansea director of football Brian Flynn confirmed on Monday that he has finally got his man, fighting off rival interest from Hull City. "I know he's going to be a vital part in our struggle to retain League status," said Flynn, whose side moved out of the relegation zone with Saturday's 2-0 win over Cambridge. Nugent has scored three goals while on loan at the Vetch but limped out of the win over Cambridge.
However, Flynn is hopeful that he will have his 33-year-old target man back for the trip to Division Three leaders Hartlepool. "He should be back for Saturday, he's progressing well and he's confident that he should be okay. "We've done well in recent weeks but it's a severe test for us on Saturday against the best team in the division. "Everyone in the squad is going to be a vital part from now until the end of the season." There was further good news as Terry Evans' injury is not as bad as first thought and he has an outside chance of making the trip to Hartlepool. |
