Benjamin Van den Broek wants Shrewsbury Town stay

Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Benjamin van den Broek is keen to sign a new contract at the club despite interest from clubs in his native Holland.

The 22-year-old joined Shrewsbury in February until the end of the season after the collapse of his club Haarlem.

The right-sided player told BBC Radio Shropshire: "I think I want to stay here if the club offers me a contract, I think I'm going to sign it.

"It depends on what they offer me, I have offers from clubs in Holland."

He added: "I can sign a contract for a few years at a club in Holland which is closer to home, but I just like it at Shrewsbury.

"It wasn't easy at the beginning, I missed my country and family, but I'm living with a few of the players and they've helped me a lot. I've settled in now and getting used to English football."

Van den Broek has made two starts and five substitute appearances since his move to England.
