Shrewsbury signing Benjamin van den Broek raring to go

Shrewsbury Town

New Shrewsbury Town signing Benjamin van den Broek says he chose Shrewsbury ahead of a dozen other clubs and is eager to make an impression on fans.

The 22-year-old former HFC Haarlem midfielder agreed to join the Shrews after impressing in training.

"I'll work very hard and hopefully the fans will like my style," van den Broek told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"There were about 10 or 12 clubs after me. It took me about four weeks to make a good decision," he added.

Shrews boss Paul Simpson said: "He wants to play in England. It isn't a money thing for him - he was offered lots to go elsewhere and he's come here for next to nothing."
