Shrewsbury and Cheltenham shared the spoils in a result that did more for the away side's relegation fight than it did for the hosts' play-off charge.
Neither side reproduced the form that brought them decisive wins at the weekend and it was the visitors who looked sharper throughout.
Justin Richards should have done better with half a dozen chances but found home keeper David Button in fine form.
Jamie Cureton blazed over from six yards in Shrewsbury's best chance.
Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire: "It's obviously disappointing we've only got a point out of it.
"I just think you've got to take your chances. If you don't take them you don't get anything out of it.
"We need to come out this weekend and try to win the next game. We've got to keep going and until it's mathematically impossible to get in the play-offs we've got to keep fighting."
Cheltenham Town boss Mark Yates told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "It didn't quite break for us - we've hit the post, the keeper's made a couple of saves, we've not finished chances that we perhaps should have done.
"But I'm not going to knock my players.
"I thought that was probably the best performance out of the last four. We've won three and played very well in those games.
"We had to stand up to a big strong team and I thought from the first whistle we were excellent."
