Former Scunthorpe United defender Kenny Milne is hoping to resume his playing career after undergoing knee surgery.
The career of Milne, 31, appeared to be over due to persistent knee problems and he had played just eight times for the Iron since joining in 2008.
However, the Scottish centre-half underwent knee surgery in August and is now on the verge of a return for Scunthorpe's reserves.
Milne will have to play as a trialist as he is no longer a registered player.
Despite not having his contract renewed by the Championship club, Scunthorpe have helped him with his rehabilitation whilst also assisting the coaching staff.
Having gone unpaid for six months, Milne now wants to see if his career can be revived with a return in the second string either later this month or in early-February.
