Rushden midfielder Max Porter plays down title chances

Midfielder Max Porter insists Rushden & Diamonds are not even thinking of a Blue Square Bet Premier title bid.

Diamonds finished fourth last season and lost to Oxford in the play-offs.

The 23-year-old told BBC Radio Northampton: "We're not under any illusions about winning the division. There's no talk of that at all.

"All we want to do is be in with a chance of the play-offs. Another go at that would be amazing. We're not getting too far ahead of ourselves."

He added: "People might say we overachieved last season but we did have a good squad here."

Porter joined Rushden from Barnet before the start of last season.

Diamonds launch their campaign on Saturday at home to newly promoted Fleetwood Town.
