Rushden and Diamonds defender Jamie Day expects to rebuild his career next season in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
The 24-year-old joined from League One side Peterborough United after five years at London Road.
Day told BBC Radio Northampton: "In the last couple of seasons, I've had a few injuries and a new start was needed.
"When I spoke to the [Diamonds] manager, I made it clear that I was happy to drop out of league football in order to play every week again."
Day says that the Diamonds boss Justin Edinburgh was an important factor in persuading him to make the move to Nene Park.
"He was the first manager I spoke to at the start of summer," said Day.
"After speaking to him, I knew I was going to come to Rushden."
