| Friday, 31 January, 2003, 15:13 GMT McAllister wants QPR move Basingstoke Town striker Craig McAllister has urged his club not to stand in the way of him joining QPR. The Ryman Premier League outfit rejected an offer from Rangers for McAllister before the 22-year-old began a second and extended trial at Loftus Road this week. He is desperate to secure a move, but Basingstoke manager Ernie Howe is determined to hold out for the best possible price. McAllister said: "I thought something had been agreed but now it seems it hasn't.
"I just hope Basingstoke allow me to move on. "When I was growing up Rangers were a Premiership club and it would be a fantastic thing to sign for them. "I'm really hoping that something can be sorted out. "It's every kid's dream to be a professional footballer and I think I'm good enough. "It would be great to get a move to a pro club and hopefully I've shown I deserve a chance." But former QPR defender Howe is in no mood to do his old club any favours. "Rangers made an offer and it wasn't enough. They'll have to come back to us again," he said. "I don't know what the money situation is at Rangers, but the kind of money they're talking about for him isn't right." McAllister has scored 22 goals in 32 matches for Basingstoke and has also attracted interest from Reading, Luton and Southend. |
