James Wesolowski raring for Peterborough United return

Peterborough United midfielder James Wesolowski is desperate to make his first start since suffering a knee injury over a month ago.

The 23-year-old tore a medial ligament in September but managed 25 minutes in Saturday's defeat at Brentford.

The Australian is in line for a full return against Brighton on Saturday.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'm raring to go, I've done all the re-hab work. I'm ready to get back out on the pitch and help the team."

Before his setback Wesolowski, who joined from Leicester in the summer, had formed a formidable partnership in central midfield with Grant McCann.

Posh have only lost one league game this season when the pair have started together.

I think if we get stuck into them we can make it hard for them and easier for us to catch them on the break

"I was enjoying my football. Me and Grant had a good little partnership," Wesolowski added.

"We were comfortable in there and we were starting to dictate games.

"If me and Granty can get hold of the midfield, it gives us a good base to go forward and play attacking football."

Gary Johnson's side will be looking to close a six-point gap on the Seagulls at the weekend and continue their good form at home, which has seen them win five out of six this season at London Road.

"It's going to be a big game, it's going to be top of the table pretty much," said Wesolwski.

"Brighton are a good side, they play composed football and I think if we get stuck into them we can make it hard for them and easier for us to catch them on the break."
