Charnock's clumsy challenge against Scunthorpe cost his side a penalty
Peterborough defender Kieran Charnock has said he is ready to step back in to first-team action with a likely recall for Saturday's trip to Walsall.
The 24-year-old has not played since August after being criticised by boss Darren Ferguson for his performance in the 1-0 defeat by Scunthorpe.
Charnock was placed on the transfer list following the match.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I see it as a one-off chance to do well and perform, that's all I see it as."
With Craig Morgan and Gabriel Zakuani on international duty and Chris Westwood doubtful with a calf injury, Charnock is set to partner Charlie Lee in the centre of defence at the Bescot Stadium on Saturday.
Charnock admitted his performance against Scunthorpe was poor, and said: "That wasn't a good performance and I made a bad mistake in that game.
"But since then I have tried to get my head down and work hard, and obviously I was really disappointed to be put on the transfer list.
"I got chucked into that game at the last minute in a slightly different position from what I'm used to, not match-fit at all, and I didn't perform.
"If I do play this week then hopefully I can make up for that."
