Walsall's five-match unbeaten run came to an end after a home defeat to an impressive Peterborough side at the Banks's Stadium on Saturday.
After a minute Craig Mackail-Smith, crossed for Shaun Batt, whose shot was saved by Walsall's Rene Gilmartin, but Batt reacted well to head in.
Just before the interval, skipper Russell Martin passed to Chris Whelpdale who shot inside the post.
Walsall battled hard and Troy Deeney headed a late consolation.
