Blue Square Premier side Oxford United lost 2-0 in their latest pre-season friendly to a Rangers XI in Scotland.
The match took place behind closed doors at the Gers' training ground.
Manager Chris Wilder told BBC Oxford: "It was great to see the facilities, great facilities, and play against young international footballers.
"It was a great education for the players, a great workout for them, even though we are disappointed that we got beat," he said.
Ryan Clarke played the full 90 minutes in goal for United after Billy Turley felt ill prior to the match.
Captain Adam Murray continued his rehabilitation from injury by also playing the full duration.
Andrew Little and Steven Lennon scored Rangers' goals.
The U's are next in action in a friendly at home to QPR on Friday, 24 July at 1945 BST.
