Day has played over 100 games for both Mansfield and Aldershot
Oxford United have signed former Aldershot defender Rhys Day on a two-year deal, their 11th summer signing.
Day, who won promotion to League Two with Aldershot in 2008, was released at the end of the season and has been on trial with Oxford in Scotland.
He played in the 3-0 win over Morton and the 2-0 defeat by a Rangers XI.
The 26-year-old told BBC Oxford: "Oxford United are a team that should be in League One at least. It's a team that can achieve things."
U's manager Chris Wilder was impressed by the former Mansfield player's attitude when he was offered a trial by United in Scotland.
He said: "He fits the bill in a lot of ways.
"For me to ring the boy up [last] Thursday afternoon, and for him to be up in Edinburgh 15 minutes after we were, says a lot about the lad.
"He's been involved in a championship-winning side at Aldershot and he played in Division Two last year."
Day joins James Constable, Adam Chapman, Dannie Bulman, Mark Creighton, Jack Midson, Marcus Kelly, Alfie Potter, Alex Rhodes, Ryan Clarke and Matt Green in joining the U's this summer.
