Oxford City striker Lee Steele has set his sights on promotion as the club prepares for the new season.

After scoring in Saturday's 4-2 win over GB Deaf XI, Steele is confident that City can reach the Zamaretto League Premier Division play-offs.

The 35-year-old told BBC Oxford: "I know how they got on last year [sixth] and people have been saying that they have added a bit more quality.

"If we can go one place better than last year we will be in the play-offs."

He added: "That would mean exciting times for the club and if we can get a promotion that would be great."

Steele says this desire for success is what motivates him to keep playing.

"I wouldn't be playing if I didn't have the hunger. I know loads of lads my age who have had enough but physically, I'm in good shape and I'm as hungry as anything," the former Oxford United striker said.
