The Nationwide League's oldest club are the latest to go into administration following the collapse of ITV Digital.

But they have still managed to attract a sponsorship package with local firm Aaron Scargill, which they say is the biggest in the club's history.

The company's brand will appear on County's strip next season and they have also bought the rights to re-name the club's Meadow Lane ground.

"This is a vote of confidence for the club," County chairman Albert Scardino told the club's website.

"What's most important is the fact that this is not a national company who decided to simply extend their brand.

"This is a local organisation who have stepped forth to prove the commitment in Nottingham of ensuring that the club recovers from its current problems.

"It is a company who have a genuine interest in the club.

"This is a substantial agreement from Aaron Scargill that we are very grateful for, and proves that it is not all doom and gloom here at the club."

Paul Finnity, of Kroll Buchler Phillips, was appointed by the High Court on Monday to oversee the club's period in administration.

He is optimistic that the relatively modest wage bill will ensure the situation does not end with player redundancies.

"Unlike other football clubs which have too high a cost base compared to turnover, this is not the case for Notts County," said Finnity.

"Indeed, the wage bill has already been reduced quite significantly and we are confident Notts County can be saved without recourse to player redundancies."

Notts struggled on the field last season, only avoiding relegation on the final day of the season.

But they have strong community schemes in place and these should not be affected by the club being placed into administration.

"We are hopeful we can secure the future of the club in time for the start of the new season, ensuring players and supporters alike are able to look forward to a more positive future," added Finnity.
