| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 01:14 GMT Notts County 2-2 Crewe Australian striker Danny Allsopp came off the bench to help struggling Notts County snatch a point from a home draw against Crewe. County were caught cold in the icy conditions as promotion-chasing Crewe struck twice inside 12 minutes. The first hit the net after just 65 seconds - the in-form Steve Jones blasting home his seventh in five games from close range. Then Rob Hulse made amends for a glaring early miss by slotting home his 24th of the season at the end of a crisp passing move. Notts keeper Steve Mildenhall made a string of superb saves from Jones and Rodney Jack to keep the hosts in the game. And the saves looked even more crucial as the home team came storming back. Just before the hour Mark Stallard was felled in the box by defender Richard Walker, allowing Darren Caskey to blast home from the spot. Notts manager Bill Dearden then threw on Allsopp, and with three minutes remaining the pacey striker raced clear to slide home the equaliser. Notts County: Mildenhall, Ramsden, Fenton, Ireland, Baraclough, Liburd, Caskey, Holmes, Nicholson, Stallard, Heffernan. Subs: Deeney, Allsopp, Bolland, Harrad, Riley. Crewe: Ince, Wright, Walker, McCready, Vaughan, Lunt, Brammer, Jack, Sorvel, Jones, Hulse. Subs: Bankole, Ashton, Sodje, Rix, Bell. Referee: M Thorpe (Suffolk). |
