Norwich keep Forster for season

Norwich City's on-loan goalkeeper Fraser Forster will stay at the League One club until the end of the season.

The Canaries have agreed a deal with Newcastle United to extend the deal that was due to expire in January.

Norwich manager Paul Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Fraser having eight clean sheets in 12 games is a really terrific return.

"Newcastle have got really high hopes for him, if he keeps progressing he could be a really top goalkeeper."

Forster himself said it is nice to be able to make plans for the rest of his season.

"It's nice to get it all sorted out and be here until the end of the season, it should be brilliant to be a part of what's happening here," he said.

Lambert pleased with Canaries' spirit

Newcastle have also agreed to let Forster play in FA Cup matches, which is a relief to the 21-year-old after missing City's first-round tie at Paulton.

"That's brilliant as well, it means another game and another really good competition to be a part of and I'm looking forward to that game next week.

"The back four's changed a bit but at the moment it's pretty stable, if we can keep the same players playing it makes the game a lot easier," he added.

Forster moved to Carrow Road on an initial one-month emergency loan in August but soon had his contract extended until January.
