Forster played seven games on loan at Stockport last season
Bristol Rovers have signed Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster on an initial month-long loan.
The 21-year-old had a spell at Stockport last season, and will act as cover for Steve Phillips.
"He is a highly rated keeper and there were a lot of parties interested in taking him on loan," first-team coach Paul Trollope told the club's website.
"It's a good signing for us. If all goes well, he may be staying here longer than the initial month."
The 6ft 6in youngster joined Newcastle's academy in 2005 and made his reserve-team debut a year later. He played seven games on loan at Stockport last season, keeping three clean sheets.
"It was a great experience for me last year at Stockport and I came on a lot for that opportunity," Forster told Newcastle's official website.
"Hopefully I can enjoy a similar spell at Bristol Rovers and I can't wait to get started."
