Holt was top-scorer in League Two with Shrewsbury last season
Grant Holt said he was honoured to be made captain in Paul Lambert's first game as Norwich City manager.
Holt, a summer transfer target of Lambert's while he was at Colchester, scored the Canaries first and final goals in their 5-2 win over Wycombe.
He told BBC Radio Norfolk: "It's always an honour when someone comes in and gives you the opportunity to captain.
"There was a bit of pressure. I wanted to get off the mark but I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get a hat-trick."
Holt's brace, coupled with his treble in the League Cup at Yeovil, gives him five goals in five games for Norwich, just two short of the club's top scorer last season.
"I'm just delighted the team's won, we need to win at home, when you get crowds like that every week you need to impress them," he said.
"I'm sure they'll go home happy, talking about the show they've had."
Holt also revealed after the match that he had played through the pain barrier, after suffering an infected wisdom tooth the night before the game.
"I've had a bit of toothache over night, but once you get into the game you forget about it, but that's the nature of football, you just have to get on with things.
"It's just a tooth, it's not like I broke my leg or anything like that," he said.
