Norwich City have signed Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Jason Shackell on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old left Carrow Road to sign for Wolves in August but has played just 13 matches for the Championship leaders.

He told the club's website: "I want to play games and it's a good opportunity for me.

"I'm happy to come back to a place that I know so well and I want to help us get away from the bottom of the table."

Shackell played 131 games for the Canaries in his first spell with the club after progressing through the youth system at Carrow Road.

"It's fantastic to have him back," said Norwich boss Bryan Gunn.

"It was an opportunity to bring in a quality player in an area of the pitch we need to get cover."

Norwich have had problems in the centre of their defence this season with a serious knee injury ruling Dejan Stefanovic out until the end of the campaign.

City also lost John Kennedy to injury before the end of his loan spell from Celtic, leaving Gary Doherty as the only recognised central defender in Gunn's first team squad.
