Former Norwich City striker Leon McKenzie has joined Northampton Town until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old was released by Charlton at the end of last season where he failed to make a single start.
Cobblers boss Ian Sampson told the club's website: "He is an experienced striker with a good goal-scoring record playing at a higher level.
"He has got an excellent CV and a good pedigree and he has a hunger to get back among the goals."
McKenzie started his career at Crystal Palace but made his name after signing for Peterborough United in October 2000.
He went on to score 46 league goals in 90 appearances for Posh, earning himself a move to Norwich City in December 2003, helping them win promotion to the Premier League that season.
The forward notched seven top-flight goals, including the second in the Canaries' 2-0 win over Manchester United at Carrow Road.
Sampson added: "We have been struggling for goals and Leon will come in to try to change that.
"We have been talking for a few days and he has been training with us and I am pleased we have got things sorted out. He is a player I have been looking at for a while and the [League Cup] run has allowed us to bring him in."
