McKenzie feared career was over

McKenzie feared he would never play football again

Coventry City striker Leon McKenzie feared the worst when he injured his ankle earlier this year against Birmingham City.

The 31-year-old made his comeback after six months out in the 1-0 defeat at home to Swansea.

McKenzie had doubts that he would never play for the Sky Blues again.

"I was not really sure if I would wear a shirt again, the way things have gone, I put a doubt in mind," he told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

He added: "It was nice to get out today, my contract runs out at the end of this month so pretty much I am on a free transfer but it is up to the club to sort that out".

The former Norwich City player made his comeback after six months out in the 1-0 defeat at home to Swansea.

McKenzie was also pleased with the Coventry City supporters after he came off the bench against Swansea.

"The reception was fantastic because there is a lot of time I am on my own and people do not see that, it is very hard mentally to get to the levels where I am today".
